M&G Bolsters Asia Compliance Team With Senior UBS Hire

The British asset manager has appointed a seasoned compliance executive from UBS Asset Management to lead its Asia-Pacific compliance function, underlining the strategic importance of the region as the firm expands its international footprint.

M&G Investments has named Ruth Poh as Head of Compliance for Asia Pacific, effective immediately. Based in Singapore, she reports to Tim Page, the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer, and will oversee regulatory and compliance risks across the region while supporting the continued expansion of M&G’s investment and client activities.

Poh joins from UBS Asset Management, where she most recently served as Head of Compliance & Operational Risk Control. In that role, she was responsible for compliance, financial crime and operational risk across Singapore and the Asia-Pacific hub, covering businesses including alternative investments, real estate and private markets. She also chairs the Regulatory Committee of the Investment Management Association of Singapore (IMAS).

With more than two decades of experience in compliance and operational risk, Poh has also held senior positions at Eastspring Investments, Western Asset Management, AXA Wealth Management Asia and DBS Asset Management.

International Expansion

The appointment comes as M&G continues to shift towards a more international client base. By the end of 2025, clients outside the UK accounted for almost 60% of the firm’s third-party assets under management and administration, up from less than 40% five years earlier. Asia Pacific has become one of the company’s key growth markets.

«Ruth’s appointment strengthens our compliance leadership in Asia Pacific to support M&G’s growth internationally and operations across multiple regulatory environments,» said Tim Page. He highlighted her extensive governance experience and track record of developing regional compliance frameworks.

Amy Cho, Head of Asia Pacific at M&G Investments, said the firm is expanding its regional business by focusing on areas where its investment capabilities are most relevant to clients. She described Poh’s experience as instrumental in supporting the company’s long-term growth ambitions while maintaining strong regulatory oversight.

The compliance appointment follows another recent senior hire in the region, with M&G naming Cameron Sinclair as Head of Institutional Distribution, Australia, reinforcing the firm’s investment in its Asia-Pacific franchise.
