MSCI Names Industry Veteran to Lead Korea Client Coverage
MSCI has appointed financial industry veteran Hanshin Lee as Head of Korea Client Coverage, underscoring the index and analytics provider’s commitment to one of Asia’s most important institutional investment markets.
The New York-listed investment research and index provider announced that Hanshin Lee assumed the role on June 1, 2026. Based in Seoul, he will lead MSCI’s Korea client coverage team and report to Ryoya Terasawa, Head of North Asia Client Coverage.
Lee joins MSCI with more than 25 years of experience across global and domestic financial institutions. During his career, he held senior roles at Credit Suisse, J.P. Morgan and Bank of America, building expertise across a broad range of financial products and investment solutions.
He is also well connected within South Korea’s institutional investment community, having established relationships with some of the country’s largest asset owners, including sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and insurance companies.
Focus on Growth in Korea
MSCI said the appointment reflects its ongoing commitment to the Korean market, where institutional investors continue to expand their use of data, analytics, index solutions and alternative investment strategies.
«Welcoming Hanshin to lead our Korea coverage is a reflection of our continued commitment to this market and our clients here,» said Ryoya Terasawa, Head of North Asia Client Coverage at MSCI.
He added that Lee’s extensive relationships and experience across multi-asset investment strategies and alternative investments would help accelerate the firm’s growth and enhance its value proposition for clients in Korea.
Strategic Market
The appointment comes as global index providers and data firms compete for a larger share of Asia’s growing institutional investment sector. South Korea remains a key market, supported by some of the region’s largest pension funds, insurers and sovereign investors.
MSCI plays a central role in global capital markets through its widely followed equity and fixed-income indices, as well as its portfolio analytics, ESG and risk management solutions. The firm serves a broad client base that includes asset managers, asset owners, hedge funds, wealth managers, banks, insurers and private-market investors worldwide.
With Lee’s appointment, MSCI is strengthening its local leadership team as it seeks to deepen relationships with Korean institutional investors and support their evolving investment and risk management needs.
