DBS Launches Enhanced GenAI Program

DBS Bank has unveiled an upgraded version of its Spark GenAI programme, aiming to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) adopt artificial intelligence more quickly and effectively as part of Singapore’s broader push to strengthen its digital economy.

The enhanced initiative, developed in partnership with Enterprise Singapore and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), introduces a more structured approach to AI adoption, tailored to businesses at different stages of readiness.

The move comes as demand for practical AI guidance grows. A recent DBS survey found that nearly 40% of SMEs are seeking expert advice on how to integrate AI into their operations, reflecting increasing interest alongside uncertainty about where to begin.

Three-Stage Framework

To address this, the revamped programme is built around a three-stage framework: «Start,» «Accelerate,» and «Scale.» Businesses new to AI can begin with ready-to-use tools, while more advanced firms can access customized solutions, consulting support, and deeper system integration.

Participants will also benefit from training workshops, advisory services, and access to a global network of solution providers through IMDA’s innovation platform. Eligible companies may receive government grants covering up to half of qualifying costs.

DBS executives say the goal is to reduce barriers to adoption and help companies translate AI interest into real business outcomes. The bank will also provide financial tools, including cyber protection coverage, to support firms as they invest in digital capabilities.

New Guidebook

As part of the rollout, DBS introduced a new guidebook titled «Implementing AI for Impact.» Developed with industry partners, the playbook breaks down AI adoption into manageable steps and includes a diagnostic tool to help businesses assess their readiness.

The guide categorizes companies into four stages—from early awareness to advanced implementation—and offers practical use cases, case studies, and advice for decision-makers.

Officials from DBS and its partner agencies emphasized that AI is becoming a critical driver of competitiveness and that SMEs must be equipped with the right tools and knowledge to keep pace.
The enhanced Spark GenAI programme builds on DBS’s broader efforts to support digital transformation. In 2025, the bank was recognized globally for its leadership in applying AI in financial services.
