iShares Hits New Milestone and Forecasts ETF Growth
BlackRock’s exchange-traded fund unit, iShares, has hit the $5 trillion asset mark after a record first half of inflows.
iShares exchange-traded funds (ETF) have surpassed $5 trillion in assets under management (AUM) globally, according to a statement. This includes a record-breaking first half in 2025 with $192 billion in inflows.
Within Asia Pacific, the firm highlighted notable developments including the introduction of 27 ETFs domiciled in the region in the past two years, bringing the total number of local ETFs to 112 across Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. In August, iShares also launched a platform in Taiwan with two ETFs set to list this month.
5-Year AUM Projection
According to Stephen Cohen, chief product officer and global head of iShares at BlackRock, ETFs currently represent only 6 percent of capital markets worldwide and he believes that AUM will nearly double from $15 trillion to $27 trillion in the next five years.
«We believe that indexing will continue to be the predominant growth driver for ETFs, but innovation is opening new frontiers – from more granular indices, to fixed income, active and digital strategies – and we believe this is just the beginning,» Cohen said.
