To mark its tenth anniversary in Hong Kong, UBS Optimus Foundation is expanding its offering in the city with a new entity and philanthropy solution.

UBS Optimus Foundation – the bank’s grant-making unit – is launching a new entity in Hong Kong, according to a statement.

Through the locally registered, tax-exempt charitable foundation, clients will be able to access a larger selection of philanthropic options and opportunities to «support a wider scope of charitable causes, including education, health, child protection, climate and social finance».

Donor Advised Fund

In addition, the bank is also launching the UBS Donor Advised Fund (DAF) in Hong Kong. The offering is an alternative solution to clients setting up their own foundations.

Charitable donations to the fund can be invested within the parameters selected by clients and all administrative fees are borne by the bank.

10th Anniversary

The announcement marks the bank’s celebration of the tenth anniversary of UBS Optimus Foundation in Hong Kong.

«The UBS Optimus Foundation Hong Kong has achieved a lot over the last ten years, deploying philanthropic capital to tackle some of the most pressing social issues,» said Maya Ziswiler, chief executive of the foundation. «And now we are entering a new chapter in our growth as our Hong Kong-based clients can look forward to accessing an even broader, global offering of climate and social finance solutions.»

In 2022, the UBS Optimus Foundation network raised $274 million in donations and committed $150 million in grants, up 70 percent and 39 percent year-on-year, respectively. Within Greater China, it managed 30 active programs in 2022 that benefited over 292,000 people.
