In what could be its final client event, Credit Suisse spotlighted Hong Kong’s local culture via iconic designs featured at its 26th Asian Investor Conference this week.

At its Hong Kong-based Asian Investor Conference (AIC) this week, Credit Suisse set up a food stall that references a key icon in Hong Kong culture.

The stall, located in the foyer of the Conrad Hotel, replicates the red, white and blue color scheme used by renowned local ice cream vendor Mobile Softee (see image above). The business was inspired by US-based Mister Softee and the first ice cream truck is believed to be imported from the UK for operation on the eve of Chinese New Year in 1970.

The stall also serves iconic local dishes such as pineapple buns.

Event Revision

The event’s original agenda saw last-minute changes following an expected $3.3 billion acquisition by UBS over the weekend.

Hong Kong chief executive John Lee, Credit Suisse chairman Axel Lehmann, and CEO Ulrich Korner, were removed from the speaker list. They were replaced by deputy financial secretary Michael Wong Wai-lun, Credit Suisse Hong Kong CEO Benjamin Cavalli and global head of equities Neil Hosie, respectively.

The event closed previously available access to media and was made exclusive to clients only.

26 Years

Credit Suisse’s conference is held from March 21 to 23 this week and has attracted more than 1,600 institutional investors, hedge funds, ultra and high net worth investors as well as top representatives from over 200 companies, according to a statement.

«The AIC represents Credit Suisse at its best. For 26 years, it has been our privilege to present powerful perspectives on the themes that matter most,» said Hosie.
