Standard Chartered's head of Singapore and Asean has added a prestigious role with Singapore's government to her rapidly-expanding career.

Singapore's urban planning authority named Standard Chartered's Judy Hsu to its board, the body said in a media statement on Wednesday. Last week, Hsu was vaulted into the league of Asia's most influential bankers when she took over the Asean job from Anna Marrs, who is returning to London.

Hsu is the only banker on the board of the urban authority, and the prestigious appointment is a recognition of her standing in Singapore, after DBS banker and local politician Liang Eng Hwa stepped down.

She is also one of the few women appointed to the body, which is responsible for planning, designing and developing infrastructure like housing and ports in the densely populated city-state where space is at a premium.

With Marr's departure, the Canada-educated Hsu took over additional responsibilities at Standard Chartered to become one of the most influential female bankers in Southeast Asia, as finews.asia reported earlier. She is also a member of the Institute of Banking and Finance Council and sits on the Statutory Board of Workforce Singapore.
