In its latest funding round a Singapore based Robo-advisor has won strategic backing from a major global investment manager.

B2B robo-advisor platform provider, Bambu, announced it has completed a funding round led by three new investors. Franklin Templeton Investments becomes the first strategic investor in Bambu.

Singapore venture capitalists and part of the Draper Venture Network, Wavemaker Partners, also brings the first venture capital funding for Bambu. The pair are joined in the round by financial technology investor Robby Hilkowitz, an early advocate of, and investor in robo-advisors globally.

Standard Chartered Bank recently chose to initiate a Proof of Concept project with Bambu. The move followed the fintech's impressive performance in Hong Kong’s 12-week fintech accelerator programme sponsored by Standard Chartered and Fidelity International «SuperCharger FinTech 2.0».

«Our investment in Bambu stems from Franklin Templeton’s interest in advancing emerging technologies in the fintech space that fit with our focus on being innovative in the ways we serve our clients,» said Harshendu Bindal, managing director, head of Retail (International) at Franklin Templeton Investments.
