Singapore-Based EM Veteran Joins White Oak
Ashoka White Oak Capital has appointed a new Chief Investment Officer for Emerging Markets, reinforcing its ambitions in Asia. The new CIO, based in Singapore, brings nearly two decades of experience from Goldman Sachs and will take a key leadership role in shaping White Oak’s emerging markets strategy across portfolios.
White Oak Capital, a fast-growing investment manager specializing in India and emerging markets, announced that it is welcoming Hiren Dasani as its new CIO starting 12 August 2025.
This move signals the Group’s ongoing commitment to bolstering its investment depth and scale, particularly in Asia.
Singapore at the Heart of White Oak’s Expansion
Dasani will operate out of Singapore, a pivotal location for White Oak’s research and advisory operations.
Singapore’s positioning as a financial gateway to Asia makes it a natural hub for the Group’s regional leadership and underscores White Oak’s strategic emphasis on on-the-ground expertise in the world’s most dynamic markets.
Leveraging Decades of Experience at Goldman Sachs
Before joining White Oak, Dasani held senior roles at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, including Co-Head of Global Emerging Markets Equity.
With oversight of portfolios totalling approximately $22 billion, his leadership covered a wide swath of strategies including Global EM, EM ex-China, and India equities.
Driving Performance Across Listed and UCITS Funds
At White Oak, Dasani will not only guide the investment team but will also be named portfolio manager on key mandates including the Ashoka White Oak Emerging Markets Trust and the Ashoka India Equity PLC – both listed on the London Stock Exchange.
In addition, he will play a vital role in managing the firm’s UCITS strategies, which are a core offering for European investors.
Asia’s Growing Role in Global Investment Strategies
The hire also reflects the broader trend of global asset managers turning toward Asia for talent, market insights, and investment opportunities.
With local teams in Singapore, India, and Spain, and a growing international distribution footprint, White Oak is positioning itself as a premier player in the emerging markets space. Founded in 2017, Ashoka White Oak Capital manages approximately $10 billion in equity assets.
