Ex-Morgan Stanley Banker Joins SMBC in Singapore
Tokyo-based Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation has announced the appointment of a regional head of capital markets and solutions.
SMBC has appointed Joy Kwek as managing director, head of capital markets and solutions, Asia Pacific, according to a statement. In the newly created role, she will lead the strategic alignment of SMBC and SMBC Nikko Securities across the region, driving the delivery of integrated financing solutions.
Based in Singapore, she will report to SMBC APAC deputy head Carsten Stoehr, SMBC Nikko Hong Kong president Hironori Hattori as well as the global heads of debt capital markets and solutions at SMBC Nikko.
Kwek has over 20 years of banking experience, joining from Morgan Stanley where she was head of APAC strategic advisory solutions. She previously held senior leadership roles at Credit Suisse, including head of APAC private asset group and Greater China strategic advisory.
