SMBC Appoints Global Head of FX in Singapore

Tokyo-based Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation has announced the appointment of a global head of foreign exchange, based in Singapore.

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) has appointed Salim Zaman as global head of FX, according to a statement, while retaining his existing role as co-head of global markets and treasury in Asia Pacific.

Based in Singapore, he will oversee the bank’s global FX strategy and strengthen its ability to deliver comprehensive and integrated FX solutions to clients worldwide. He will also work closely with regional leadership teams on resource management for the global FX business, including the sourcing, development, and retention of talent.

Zaman has more than two decades of experience with a focus on sales and trading in FX and rates. Prior to joining SMBC in 2021, he worked at Citi for 22 years, last as APAC head of FX investor sales.
