New York-headquartered J.P. Morgan Private Bank has partnered with an education platform to launch a wealth management program targeting women in Asia.

J.P. Morgan Private Bank launches its «Women & Wealth» program for clients and employees across Asia, according to a statement.

The program will include in-person roundtable events on investing and wealth management topics across Hong Kong and Singapore featuring female leaders from the bank and beyond. The program will also feature a digital experience through a private community platform and online financial education courses on various topics including sustainable investments and venture capital.

«The program complements J.P. Morgan’s strong stance on empowering women throughout each important period of their lives and prioritizing their financial health while helping them tap into the vast investment opportunities,» said Kam Shing Kwang, J.P. Morgan Private Bank Asia CEO and Greater China investment banking vice chair.

Financial Education Platform

The US bank is launching the program in partnership with Sophia, a financial education platform launched in January 2022 by gender finance specialists Christine Yu, Nicole Denholder and Tanya Rolfe.

According to a survey conducted by Sophia, 96 percent of women believe their financial knowledge requires improvement.

«Women are 51 percent of the world’s population yet own a third of the world’s wealth. Thanks to the gender wealth and investing gap, women invest at lower rates and less often which leads to women retiring with less wealth,» Yu said. «We are here to change that.»
