OCBC Discloses Salary of First Female CEO

OCBC disclosed the 2021 salary of its first female chief executive Helen Wong following significantly stronger annual earnings.

OCBC CEO Helen Wong’s annual salary totaled S$7.6 million ($5.6 million), according to the Singaporean bank’s annual report.

Wong’s compensation package includes a base salary of S$1.1 million, a S$2.9 million bonus, S$2 million in deferred shares and S$1.6 million in other benefits including club and car benefits.

The salary accounts for her compensation as a deputy president from January 1 to April 14 and as group CEO from April 15 onwards.

Pre-Covid Profit

Wong oversaw the bank in a year that saw profit recovery after a weaker 2020 due to the pandemic.

In 2021, net profit rose 35 percent compared to a 26.3 percent drop in 2020.

At Singapore’s other ‘big three’ banks, DBS CEO Piyush Gupta received S$13.6 million and UOB CEO Wee Ee Chong received S$10.9 million for their annual salaries.
