HSBC Joins WealthiHer Network Asia
HSBC Private Banking on Monday announced it has joined The WealthiHer Network Asia as a move to advance the Bank’s agenda to promote gender diversity in the financial services sector.
Besides promoting gender diversity, the bank also hopes to empower female entrepreneurs and drive the economic advancement of women across the region.
«HSBC Private Banking takes gender equality in entrepreneurship seriously. Our recent research also reveals that a third of female entrepreneurs experience gender bias when raising capital for their business. Female entrepreneurs are clearly still playing catch-up and this needs to change. We are keen to help create a level playing field for them to succeed,» said Siew Meng Tan, Regional Head, Asia Pacific, HSBC Private Banking.
Collaboration Amongst Banks
The WealthiHer Network is an organization founded to make the financial industry more female-focused. The WealthiHer Network Asia, a regional chapter launched earlier this year, is a collaboration of leading banks with the objective of driving the global empowerment and advancement of women.
In October 2019, the WealthiHer Network Asia found its first founding partner in J.P. Morgan Private Bank, as reported by finews.asia. The network, whose activities include events and information, launched in Hong Kong first.
The network will be conducting new research in Singapore, Hong Kong and mainland China to understand the needs and attributes of female investors to form the change agenda needed to transform the finance industry. HSBC Private Banking is one of the founding partners of both its UK and Asia chapters.
