The Chartered Financial Analyst, which is sought after in the financial industry, is more popular than ever - especially among women.

More than 227,000 candidates - spread over 91 countries - have registered for the Chartered Financial Analyst Exams, CFA, on June 23, 2018. This is 20 percent more than in the previous year, the CFA Institute announced.

More and more women are signing up. Currently, more than 84,000 (37 percent) female aspirants are enrolled in the three-level course. By comparison, when the first exams took place in 1963, only six women took part.

Biggest Demand in Asia

In terms of geographical distribution, most of the applications are again from the Asia-Pacific region, with a share of 53 percent or just over 120,000 candidates. Around 63,000 people (28 percent) and over 43,000 (19 percent) in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) registered in America.

Tier I, II and III CFA examinations are conducted in 286 test centers in 91 countries and territories worldwide. Meanwhile, the CFA Institute counts more than 154,000 graduates.
