Standard Chartered has announced the appointment of a new Regional Head, Private Banking, ASEAN & South Asia and Global Head, Non-Resident Indian.

In a press release today Standard Chartered Private Bank has announced that Srinivas (“Srini”) Siripurapu will take on the new position, based in Singapore, effective 5 July 2016.

In this role Siripurapu will beresponsible for leading the Private Banking business and teams in the ASEAN & South Asia (ASA) region, as well as further establishing and executing on a global NRI strategy, he will report to Didier von Daeniken, Global Head, Private Banking & Wealth Management.

Barclays Connection

Siripurapu was most recently Head of Southeast Asia, Global South Asian Community and Africa Offshore at Barclays, and prior to that, also held leadership positions at UBS in Singapore and ABN Amro in India.

Didier von Daeniken also joined Standard Chartered from Barclays, where he led their Private Banking business for Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, and was responsible for the development and implementation of Barclays’ wealth and investment management growth strategy in these regions.

Bank of Singapore

There has been regular speculation that Barclays private bankers would migrate to Standard Chartered to join their former boss in the wake of the acquisition of Barclays Wealth Asian units by Bank of Singapore. Siripurapu may be followed by others in the coming months.

Siripurapu takes over the regional leadership for ASA from Peter Kok, whose role is now combined within the new expanded remit. As a result of this change, Peter Kok will be leaving the Bank.
