Post-Merger Lumen Capital Eyes Smaller Firms, Teams and Partners
Lumen Capital Investors and Aument Capital Partners joined forces this year to create Lumen Capital Investors, headquartered in Singapore. In an interview with finews.asia, Wilfried Kofmehl, and Dominic Schacher share their post-merger insights and discuss integration, innovation, and the evolving landscape of independent wealth management in Asia.
The recent merger of Lumen Capital Investors and Aument Capital Partners brings together two renowned independent wealth managers with complementary strengths – combining Lumen’s advisory and family office heritage with Aument’s edge in digital innovation and investment strategy.
Wilfried Kofmehl, under which brand will the combined entity operate after the merger?
Under Lumen Capital Investors. The brand has been well established in Asia for more than 15 years. It stands for stability, independence, and long-term alignment with clients.
Dominic Schacher, how has the merger progressed so far?
We are about 95 percent complete. All colleagues are now working together at Singapore’s Sing Land Tower. Integration has gone smoothly.
«The merger has already shown measurable benefits»
We are particularly pleased with the strong momentum in the digital space, where the combination has already shown measurable benefits.
Wilfried, which client segment are you targeting?
Our focus remains on high-net-worth individuals and families. Given our size and value proposition, we can address the full range of their needs – from discretionary portfolio management, advisory services, alternative investment, private markets, and debt to family governance and intergenerational wealth planning.
Dominic, which services from Aument are now integrated into Lumen’s platform?
Aument contributed several strengths – notably in digital capabilities, access to private equity and debt investments, and discretionary asset management.
«Our foundation is a solid advisory, execution, and relationship platform, built over many years»
These are now fully embedded in Lumen’s ecosystem, improving the client experience and investment depth.
Wilfried, what does Lumen bring to the table?
Our foundation is a solid advisory, execution, and relationship platform, built over many years.
Combining this with Aument’s innovation gives us a complete and scalable structure.
Dominic, how are you going to handle your leadership continuity post-merger?
We are highly complementary. We benefit from decades of experience from the Lumen management, which is now complemented by a young and dynamic management team from Aument Capital Partners.
Wilfried, please tell us more about your new platform features.
We are now ready to deliver consolidated reporting, flexible mandates, and multi-jurisdictional coverage. These are exactly those tools sophisticated families expect today.
Dominic, when did the transaction officially close?
We were able to close it in less than a year from start to finish, achieving strong synergies by combining our teams.
Wilfried, what role does Carret Private in North Asia play in your growth?
We work very closely with Carret Private, led by my former Julius Baer colleague Kenneth «Kenny» Ho. This partnership strengthens our reach in North Asia.
Dominic, how do you see the merger impacting Singapore’s independent wealth management landscape?
It’s a natural evolution. I expect many smaller firms will start similar strategic discussions by asking themselves whether they are strong and scalable enough for the future.
«We’re currently searching for a new CEO to lead the combined entity into its next growth phase»
Today, clients want access to a broad offering of solutions, and this requires scale.
Wilfried, if you were advising an HNW family, which three differentiators would you highlight?
First, we are small enough to care and large enough to matter. Second, we take a multi-generational view of wealth.
And third, everything we do is rooted in trust, independence, and alignment with our clients’ interests.
What are the priorities on your agenda?
We’re currently searching for a new CEO to lead the combined entity into its next growth phase. At the same time, we are open to acquiring smaller firms, teams, or single partners that share our DNA and client-centric culture.
Is an international expansion part of your strategy?
Absolutely. We’ve recently opened a Representative Office in Abu Dhabi, continue to work closely with Carret Private in Hong Kong, and maintain strong ties with Lumen Capital (Schweiz) in Zurich.
To both: where do you see Lumen Capital in five years?
Our ambition is clear: to be best-in-class in every location we operate, trusted by families for our integrity, expertise, and enduring partnership – offering unrivalled access to the best investment opportunities across all major asset classes.
