Two «big-ticket» bankers join the pure-play private bank's London office, less than a year after it appointed a global head of strategic resourcing to step up hiring.

Two senior bankers, one a former managing director who resigned after twelve years with Barclays and the other a former senior advisor on the European desk at Credit Suisse for eleven years, have resurfaced in new roles at J.Safra Sarasin.

Bobby Kapur joins the bank's non-resident Indian (NRI) business in London and Andre Guimaraes joins its Southern European desk. Both career bankers, Kapur has previously worked in Singapore and London in various roles and Guimaraes has worked in Geneva and London with Credit Suisse.

Growth Mode in Asia

The Basel-headquartered bank has a significant presence in Asia and is considered one of the top 20 private banks in the region by the size of its assets with NRI segment being a key component of its regional strategy. Earlier in the year, the bank appointed Yelandur N. Nagendran, a veteran banker and vice chairman of the bank in Asia, as its global head of strategic resourcing with a specific mandate to increase the bank's footprint in the highly competitive Asian market.

Concurrently, the bank named Daniel Belfer – a 19-year wealth veteran with Safra and its current head of trading, asset management and treasury – as its new CEO last week.
