Barclays Private Bank Hires Ex-UBS Tech Executive as Asia COO

A former tech executive from UBS has joined Barclays as the operations chief of its private banking business in Asia.

Barclays has appointed Werner Schlossmacher as chief operating officer (COO) for Barclays Private Bank Asia, according to a statement. Based in Singapore, he reports to Leo Müller, COO of Barclays Private Bank & Wealth Management.

Schlossmacher has more than 30 years of wealth management experience across Singapore, Hong Kong and Switzerland, most recently at UBS, where he led major digital transformational wealth journeys, redesigning mobile and e-banking experiences, and introducing generative AI capabilities. Prior to that, he spent over two decades at Credit Suisse in senior roles across digital platforms, front office applications, and APAC wealth management leadership.

«Werner is an exceptional operator with deep experience across Asia and Europe. His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to scale our business in Asia and prepare for the launch of our booking center in Singapore,» said Müller. «His track record in digital transformation and platform design positions him perfectly to help us deliver a more modern, intuitive and scalable operating environment for clients and advisors.»
