After excessive Botox injections, a female banker of Swiss-bank Julius Baer died in Hong Kong unexpectedly earlier this week.

The 52-year-old Zoe Cheung Shuk-ling died last Monday, according to a report in Hong Kong's daily «South China Morning Post». She was a Managing Director at Julius Baer in Hong Kong and apparently an asthmatic.

She reiceived a total of 16 Botox injections in the jaw, chin and above the eyebrows, the newspaper reports. Therefore, it will now be examined whether she died of a Botox overdose or the consequences of her asthma.

According to the «South China Morning Post», a spokeswoman of Julius Baer said: «We have sent our deepest condolences to her family. With due respect, we will not comment further.»

Dangerous Medical Substance

Also on Monday, 86-year-old Franklin Li Wang-pong, Cheung's doctor, was arrested. He is accused of improper handling of dangerous medical substances, the newspaper writes.

Li is a famous and experienced plastic surgeon in Hong Kong, but his license was suspended for five months in 2009 by the Medical Council after a female patient passed away during a liposuction procedure in his clinic 15 years ago. Later, other cases occured, according to other media.

When using Botox, the active substance – neurotoxin – can enter the bloodstream and cause asthma sufferers particularly dangerous breathing difficulties.
