Following the recent departure of Weber Lo, U.S. banking giant Citi named a new chief executive for Hong Kong.

Citibank appointed Angel Ng Yin-yee as the bank's country officer and chief executive for Hong Kong and Macau, effective May 1. In her new role, Ng will take responsibility for the overall management, operations and development of the entire Citi franchise in Hong Kong and Macau, the bank said on Friday.

In the new role Ng will be a member of the Citi Asia Pacific operating committee and will report to Francisco Aristeguieta, chief executive of Citi Asia Pacific.

Leaving the Industry

She joined Citi in 1998 and has held several leadership positions within the bank. She was head of Citi's consumer banking unit in Hong Kong before her promotion. Prior to Citi Ng held a number of senior positions in brand management at Procter & Gamble and China Light and Power in Hong Kong.

Previous Citi Hong Kong chief executive Weber Lo is leaving the finance industry and will join Hang Lung Group and Hang Lung Properties as CEO designate of both from May 16.
