Citi Moves Singapore Investment Banker to Sydney
A Singapore-based investment banker at Citi is relocating to Sydney for a new role in the US lender’s Australia and New Zealand unit.
Citi has appointed John McLean as head of equity capital markets (ECM) and global asset managers (GAM) for Australia and New Zealand, according to a statement. He will relocate from Singapore to Sydney for the role and be responsible for managing a regional team advising global alternative asset manager and sovereign wealth fund clients.
McLean has more than 20 years of equity capital markets experience, currently as head of GAM in Citi’s financial sponsors business in Asia Pacific. He is returning to Australia after first joining Citi in Sydney in 2001 and leading the local capital markets origination team from 2010 to 2021.
«John’s experience in Asia leading the Global Asset Managers business combined with his prior experience leading the ECM business in Australia, makes him the ideal person to lead our growth plans in these areas into the future,» commented Mark Woodruff, CEO for Citi Australia.
