Citi Appoints Head of Markets for Singapore

A new Singapore head of markets at Citi has been named, succeeding a veteran who is retiring from the banking industry after more than three decades.

Citi has appointed Nathan Swami as head of markets for Singapore, according to a memo, subject to regulatory approvals. He will also continue to serve as head of FX trading for APAC.

Swami has more than 17 years of experience with Citi in Singapore, having held various leadership positions including head of FX options trading and CEO of Citicorp Investment Bank (Singapore) Limited (CIBSL). Previously, he worked as an FX options trader at Lehman Brothers in London.

Swami succeeds Smith Smithangura who has decided to retire from the US lender at the end of June and leave the banking industry following a career of over 30 years. Smithangura has worked at Citi’s markets unit for 15 years and held key roles, including ASEAN head of investor sales.
