HSBC Private Bank Bolsters Asia Roster Across the Board
The private banking arm of HSBC has announced a handful of leadership appointments in Asia, including for the India and China segments.
HSBC Private Bank has appointed Phaneendar Bhavaraju and Rangan Krishnan as senior relationship managers within the global India team, according to a statement. In the role, they both report to Manoj Ramarao, senior desk head, global India, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Bhavaraju has over 28 years of experience across FX, rates, derivatives, precious metals, private banking and structured finance. Over the past nine years, he served as chief investment officer at external asset managers in DIFC, including Jupiter Wealth Advisors and Arrow Capital, and led multi-family office investment activities for O3 Capital India. Prior to that, he spent nine years in private banking roles at RBS and Credit Suisse.
Krishnan has more than 31 years of wealth management experience, most recently at Bank of Singapore, where he spent nine years as a team head managing ultra-high net worth clients, family offices and institutional portfolios. Prior to that, he worked at ANZ, Credit Suisse, ABN AMRO Bank and DSP BlackRock Mutual Fund.
The bank also recently named Alex Liu as market head of offshore China, extending his coverage from Hong Kong to Singapore. Based in Hong Kong, he reports to Kanas Chan, head of North Asia and Hong Kong.
Wealth Planning, Onshore Thailand
Aside from India and China coverage, HSBC Private Bank also appointed Dawn Fung as head of wealth planning, Southeast Asia, reporting to Ann Ling, regional head of wealth planning and advisory, Asia Pacific, as well as Tommy Leung, head of private bank, South Asia, on an entity basis.
Fung has 25 years of experience across banking and trust, including more than 22 years with HSBC. She remains a member of the Southeast Asia private banking leadership team.
And in Thailand, William Fok becomes country head of private bank. Based in Bangkok, he reports to Benjamin Wang, desk head for Thailand and Vietnam. Fok has over 20 years of experience in structured products and investment advisory, and most recently served as senior investment counsellor at LGT. He returns to the British lender after previously working at HSBC Private Bank for nearly five years. Earlier in his career, he also worked at Julius Baer and Morgan Stanley.
