Deutsche Bank PB’s EM Unit Nabs Ex-Goldman Executive

The private banking division of Deutsche Bank has hired a former Goldman Sachs executive as its chief investment officer for emerging markets.

Deutsche Bank Private Bank has appointed Jacky Tang as chief investment officer (CIO) for emerging markets, according to an internal memo, effective October 6 and subject to regulatory approvals. He will also assume the role of head of discretionary portfolio management (DPM) emerging emerging markets.

Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Christian Nolting, global CIO, and Maria Haindl, global head of PB BLIS managed solutions. He will also join the leadership councils of the CIO as well as the emerging markets coverage region.

In the new role, Tang will predominantly serve Asia Pacific, tasked with strengthening the emerging markets platform through the development of regional CIO strategies, client engagement and advancing actionable CIO insights. He will also be responsible for the continued development of the DPM business. Harsh Agarwal will continue to lead the DPM APAC business and report to him.

Tang has more than 25 years of experience, most recently as Goldman Sachs’ head of investment strategy group Asia and head of the Portfolio management group Asia, private wealth management since 2012. Prior to that, he also worked at Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas, Merrill Lynch and Brevan Howard Asset Management.
