JLL Hires APAC Energy and Infrastructure Duo
Chicago-based JLL has bolstered its energy and infrastructure capabilities in Asia with two new appointments.
JLL has appointed Andy Powell as head of energy and infrastructure, Australia and New Zealand, according to a statement. Based in Sydney, he will be responsible for advising on M&A, capital raising on the buy and sell-side, project finance and land acquisitions in the energy transition and wider infrastructure space.
He joins from financial advisory firm Green Giraffe Advisory where he was focused on energy transition. Previously, he also worked at Macquarie Group and KPMG.
Singapore Appointment
In addition, the property firm named JC Champalaune as head of energy and infrastructure, Asia ex-India. Based in Singapore, he will be responsible for advising clients across their M&A, capital raising and financing needs across both the established OECD renewables markets of Japan, Taiwan and Korea as well as active energy and infrastructure markets in ASEAN such as the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand.
Champalaune was most recently working at SMBC’s M&A team in Singapore. Prior to that, he held energy and infrastructure roles at BNP Paribas in Singapore and ENGIE in Thailand.
Powell and Champalaune will both oversee broader teams of energy and infrastructure specialists in Australia and Singapore and partner with JLL’s teams across the region while serving institutional investors, private equity, asset managers, strategic infrastructure and renewables operators and developers, high net worth individuals and family offices.
Expanded Capabilities
JLL recently expanded its capabilities in energy and infrastructure with the acquisition of Javelin Capital, a US-based energy transition advisory firm.
