KKR has tapped Neil Chatterjee, the former commissioner and chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), as an advisor to its global infrastructure team.

Chatterjee will advise on investment strategy and on KKR’s portfolio companies, the asset manager said in a press release Wednesday.

KKR set up its global infrastructure strategy in 2008 and has since become an active investor in the segment, with more than 70 people on the team, the statement said. It added it oversees around $40 billion in infrastructure assets and has made more than 60 sector investments.

Energy market expert

Chatterjee has around two decades of experience in energy policy and regulation, the statement said. Currently, he is a senior advisor to Hogan Lovells’ energy regulatory practices group and is a senior policy advisor with the Climate Leadership Council, the statement said.
