The firm has named a replacement for Steven Billet, who left the position in February after six years overseeing its business in Southeast Asia.

J.P. Morgan Asset Management has appointed equities specialist Sherene Ban as head of Singapore and Southeast Asia, according to «Citywire Asia» which reported the move on Friday.

In her new role based in Singapore, she is responsible for J.P. Morgan’s distribution strategy in the region, and oversee its client-facing and sales executives. She reports to Dan Watkins, CEO,  J.P. Morgan AM Asia Pacific.

International Experience

Ban was previously co-head of J.P. Morgan's emerging markets and Asia Pacific (EMAP) equities client portfolio management team, based in London. She joined the firm in 2005 and was part of the Asia-Pacific Equities team for 10 years in London, New York, and Milan, first as an Investment Specialist, and in 2001 as head of the team. In 2016, she became the global head of the firm's Investment Specialist team for the Beta Strategies group. 

Before J.P. Morgan, she spent six years at Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC as a portfolio analyst for Asia-Pacific equities.
