Citi Appoints 35-Year Veteran to Top Singapore Position
A local national has been named by Citi to the top position in Singapore for the first time in five decades.
Citi has appointed Lee Lung Nien as Citi country officer and banking head (CCOBH) for Singapore, according to a statement. He becomes the first Singaporean in 50 years to hold the bank's most senior position in the city-state. He will report to Amol Gupte, Citi’s head of Asia South and join the Asia South management team on October 6.
Lee is a 35-year Citi veteran, most recently serving as chairman of Citi Private Bank for South Asia since 2020. Prior to that, he was also CEO of Citibank Berhad in Malaysia. Previously, he held various senior positions in AML, operations, corporate sales & structuring and markets across Asia, London and New York.
Lee succeeds Tibor Pandi, who departs after spending eight years in Asia with «significant contributions» in Thailand and Singapore as CCO and banking head since 2017.
