UK-based Barclays has expanded its derivatives team in Asia with the hire of a former Nomura executive. 

Barclays appoints Jean-Baptiste Patois as head of equity derivatives ex-strategic derivatives, Asia Pacific, according to a statement. Based in Hong Kong, he reports regionally to APAC head of markets Hossein Zaimi as well as global head of structured derivatives and non-US flow Ashish Prabhudesai. 

In the role, Patois will be responsible for leading exotics and flow derivatives.  

Patois joins from Nomura where he led its Asia equity derivatives trading team in Hong Kong. Previously, he also worked at Credit Suisse and Société Générale.
