A former alternatives specialist from Bank of Singapore has joined J.P. Morgan Asset Management to oversee retail distribution for the asset class.

Gary Leung joins J.P. Morgan AM as head of retail alternatives, APAC client, according to a statement, replacing Shawn Khazzam, who relocated to New York late last year to be the firm’s head of retail alternatives, Americas client. 

Based in Hong Kong, Leung is tasked with distributing alternative solutions in the region, especially to high net worth individuals. He reports to APAC chief executive Dan Watkins.

Leung has 15 years of experience in alternative investments, most recently at Bank of Singapore as its head of alternative investments and managed solutions. Previously, he was also an alternatives specialist at Blackrock and head of alternate investments Hong Kong at HSBC Private Banking. 

Globally, J.P. Morgan AM has $215 billion of client assets under management in alternatives, as of end-June this year.
