SMBC has appointed a new co-head for structured finance in Asia Pacific, succeeding Ken Tomisaki.

Tomofumi Watanabe has been named SMBC's managing director and co-general manager of structured finance department for the APAC division, according to a statement, tasked with overseeing the bank’s regional portfolio which is focused on sustainable energy, infrastructure and natural resources. 

Watanabe will relocate from Tokyo to Singapore in the new role and report to managing executive officers and APAC division co-heads Yuichi Nishimura and Rajeev Kannan.

Watanabe has more than 10 years of experience overseeing various structured finance transactions, most recently as the general manager of SMBC's global structured finance department in Tokyo.
