Barclays has expanded its Australian investment banking unit with the hire of two new managing directors. 

Barclays has appointed Duncan Beattie and Duncan Connellan as managing directors of investment banking in Australia, according to a statement, reporting to country chief executive and Australia head of investment banking Richard Satchwell.

Based in Sydney, Beattie will lead the overall delivery of international capital markets financing for Australia and New Zealand clients while Connellan will focus on expanding the coverage of financial sponsors, infrastructure funds and corporate clients delivering leveraged finance, acquisition finance and structured financing solutions.

Beattie has 30 years of capital markets experience, most recently at J.P. Morgan where he last was its head of financial institutions group after 16 years as its co-head of debt capital markets. Previously, he also worked for Nomura in London and KPMG in Glasgow.

Connellan rejoins Barclays from Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group where he was its head of strategic and acquisition finance, Australia and New Zealand, for over four years. Prior to that, he worked at Barclays for six years, including as head of loan capital markets & leveraged finance, Australia and New Zealand. Previously, he also worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland in London, National Australia Bank in Melbourne and London, as well as Bankers Trust in Sydney.
