Barclays Hires Private Wealth Head for «Growth Markets»
Barclays has hired a renowned wealth management veteran as its head of global «growth markets», defined as Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Salman Haider is believed to have joined the bank in the new role covering UHNW and premier clients in the said markets.
A spokesperson for the bank confirmed the hire in an email to finews.asia.
Haider has over 20 years of experience in financial services mostly in wealth management and private banking. Prior to his latest role, he was with Citi as its head of U.K. consumer international personal banking. Previously, he was with J.P. Morgan for four years, last as its Southeast Asia head of private wealth management.
The role at Barclays appears to be a new one and could potentially foreshadow previous commentary by finews.asia about a possible re-entry into private banking in Asia. The non-compete clause following the sales of Barclays' wealth arm to Bank of Singapore ended last year.
