HSBC Private Banking has announced several key appointments, including the creation of a new Discretionary Head role and hires to strengthen the bank's investment counseling coverage for Taiwan and mainland China.

HSBC Private Banking is bolstering its Investment Services and Product Solutions (ISPS) team in Asia Pacific with several senior hires: Lina Lim (regional head of Discretionary Asia), Rocky Cheung (head of Investment Counseling, mainland China and Taiwan), and Simon Hwang (Investment Counseling team head, mainland China).

Lim joins from J.P. Morgan, where she worked for more than 10 years in various roles, most recently as the head of its Institutional Wealth Management discretionary business in Asia for family offices. She will be based in Hong Kong, and reports to Abdel Ben Tkhayet and Jackie Mau, co-heads of ISPS, Asia Pacific.

Cheung has over 24 years of industry experience and joins from DBS Private Bank, where he was head of Investment and Product Advisory. He is also based in Hong Kong and leads all investment counselors covering mainland China and Taiwan. He reports to Tkhayet and Mau.

Hwang joins from Citi Private Bank, where he led the Investment Counseling team covering mainland China and Taiwan. He brings almost two decades of investment advisory experience, having also worked for China Everbright Holdings, Ludgate Hill, and Pangu Capital, which he co-founded. He reports to Cheung.
