Fairouz Bouhmida:« I Secretly Dream of a Camping Car»
She starts the day with yoga, checks out the markets in Asia first, and rides an e-bike. In this interview, Fairouz Bouhmida from Aberdeen talks about life-changing moments and her best investment.
Every week, interesting personalities from the world of finance and beyond share their personal preferences on finews.privé.
What do you do first in the morning?
My 45-minute morning ritual with my seven-year-old son is very important to me. A perfect start to the day doesn't come without the little things, like those 10 minutes of yoga for BJJ. This morning ritual is the passport to my mental and emotional well-being and improves my mobility. From the early years of my career, I have also kept the habit of first looking at the impulses of financial markets (USA and Asia in particular)
What is the best thing about your job?
The diversity of perspectives and the needs of our clients give me positive energy every day. The best thing about my job in asset management is the strong feeling of satisfaction when we have found the right and sustainable investment for the end client together with the client. It's a satisfying feeling to know that our hard work and dedication have paid off.
A moment that changed your life?
My father's first heart attack in 2011 and the chance to spend the next 13 years with him.
What cars do you own? Which is your favorite?
I own an e-bike, but secretly dream of an Adria camping car from the Mettlenbach company in Mönchaltorf.
What advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?
Consciously choose a mentor to start your career - and later become a mentor yourself, because that's how you first understand what you've learned. And if you have a goal in business, start now. Don't wait until you have to check off all the boxes society demands. Have a dream, have a vision, don't wait for your friends, for your family, start now.
What are you particularly proud of?
I invested my first salary (2001) in family investments - today my family runs a company with 100 employees.
What was your biggest defeat?
If we consider the term «defeat» to be a major life event, then in my life, it was the loss of loved ones.
What is your favorite wine?
Perrier.
What projects are you currently working on?
Infrastructure and social facilities.
What is most important to you at the moment?
I'm still in the start-up phase as a director in a great company with solid values and I hope things continue to go as well as they have so far!
What would be the biggest surprise for someone who had to do your job for a day?
The real-time decisions in the investment business - and the need to stay agile and focused.
What is your personal drive?
A broad curiosity, which also includes learning new sports, for example.
What are you afraid of?
Good chess players and scaffolding – I admire people who can work at heights.
Your favorite watch brand?
Breguet – «Reine de Naples» (1810).
What do your employees most value about you?
Authenticity.
Your best Investment?
Foreign languages – and the language of the heart, when dealing with people.
