A Singapore-based company gets recognition from its success in training on the job. See who is the winner of SwissCham's Award for Excellence in People & Skills Development 2019.

Bertschi Singapore has evolved as the winner of the SwissCham Excellence in People & Skills Development Award 2019. The Award, now in its third year, has been created by the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Singapore (SwissCham).

Swiss firm Bertschi operates one of the most advanced integrated chemical logistics complexes on Jurong Island. In order to further develop its management resources, Bertschi has established a trainee program for inexperienced yet hungry talents to further develop their skills and gain practical experience.

Gala Dinner 2019

The Award was handed at the annual SwissCham Gala Dinner on Saturday, October 19th. Previous winners are Firmenich Asia (2018) and Marché Restaurants Singapore (2018). Here are some impressions from the ceremony:

«Bertschi is a great example of adapting to the needs of the Singaporean market, where talent management and investing in the local talent pool is becoming crucial for building up a sustainable business. This is warmly welcomed and actively supported by local initiatives such as SkillsFuture Singapore», SwissCham Chairman Georg von Wattenwyl said.

A Lot of Motivation

Commenting on the award, Lukas Studer, Managing Director of Bertschi Singapore, said: «It is only six years since Bertschi started to expand outside of Europe. Getting this award is an honor and gives us a lot of motivation to further develop our people in order to successfully serve our customers.»

Bertschi Singapore is a subsidiary of the global logistics service provider Bertschi. As the European market leader in intermodal chemical transportation, the Swiss family-owned company has about 3’000 employees and achieved a turnover of 975 Swiss francs in 2018.

Significant Savings

Bertschi is one of the only logistics service providers in Singapore which operates all chemical logistics activities in one location: a hazardous chemical warehouse, drumming facilities, container yard with steam heating for the storage of dangerous goods as well as trucking services. This approach offers its customers significant savings and efficiencies.

As a partner in the Responsible Care Initiative, Bertschi pursues clearly defined and measurable targets to improve resource efficiency, safety and the ecological and social impact of the transport and logistics industry.
