Great Eastern Appoints OCBC Director as Chairman

Singapore-based insurer Great Eastern has named a director from its parent OCBC as its new chairman.

Great Eastern has appointed Andrew Khoo as board chairman, according to an exchange filing, effective April 15. He succeeds Soon Tit Koon, who will retire from the board after serving on it since January 2016, including the last three years as chairman.

Khoo has been on Great Eastern’s board since September 2025 and he is also a director on the board of parent OCBC.

«The board, having considered the recommendations of the nominating committee, and having assessed Dr. Khoo’s qualifications, track record, age, experience, capabilities and skills, is of the view that he has the requisite experience and attributes to assume the duties and responsibilities of chairman,» the Singaporean insurer said.
