SocGen Nets Former UBS Banker to Lead Asia ECM
A former UBS investment banker has joined Societe Generale to lead its equity capital markets business in Asia.
Societe Generale has appointed Selina Cheung as head of equity capital markets (ECM), Asia Pacific, according to a statement. In the role, she will be responsible for overseeing origination and execution of equity and equity‑linked transactions in the region. She will also work closely with teams across Asia, the US and Europe, and leverage the research expertise and distribution capabilities of Bernstein – a cash equities and research joint venture with AllianceBernstein.
Based in Hong Kong, she reports regionally to Stephanie Clement de Givry, head of global banking and advisory for APAC, and functionally to Jeff Mortara and Anvita Arora, co-heads of global ECM.
Cheung has more than 20 years of capital markets experience, most recently serving as head of unified global banking APAC at UBS, where she led a team delivering business across the wealth management and investment banking divisions. Prior to that, she also held other senior leadership positions at the Swiss bank, including co‑head of Asia ECM and head of private financing markets APAC.
«This appointment reflects our strong ambition to expand our investment banking franchise in Asia Pacific and to better support our clients through every stage of their journey,» commented de Givry. «Together with Bernstein's leading research platform and strong presence in Asia, we are well positioned to deliver deeper insights and differentiated value to our clients.»
