Citi Nabs Ex-Goldman Investment Banker for Healthcare

A former Goldman Sachs executive has joined Citi’s healthcare investment banking business for Australia and New Zealand.

Citi has appointed Ben Bartholomaeus as head of healthcare, Australia and New Zealand, within the capital markets and advisory team, according to a statement. He will bring the bank’s global connectivity, sector insights, and execution expertise to healthcare clients in the Australasian region.

Based in Sydney, he will report Australia and New Zealand co-heads of capital markets and advisory Philippe Perzi and Ben Connolly, as well as Ling Zhang, head of healthcare, Asia Pacific region.

Bartholomaeus joins from Goldman Sachs, where he was head of healthcare in the corporate advisory division for Australia and New Zealand.

According to Citi, it is a leader in healthcare investment banking, having secured the top rank as global advisor for M&A in the sector from 2024 through 2026 year-to-date, leading major transactions for clients in biopharma, medtech and, life science tools and diagnostics sectors.
