Ex-Cathay United Banker Joins HSBC as Taiwan Wealth Head

A former executive from Cathay United Bank will join HSBC to lead its Taiwan wealth management business.

HSBC has appointed Kevin Hu as head of international wealth and premier banking (IWPB) Taiwan, according to a statement, effective November 3. In the role, he will lead the execution of the bank’s IWPB business strategy in Taiwan.

Hu joins from Taipei-based Cathay United Bank where he served as senior executive vice president since 2022. Prior to that, he worked at Citibank Taiwan for 26 years, most recently as retail banking head covering wealth management, insurance and mortgage products.

He also has a proven track record of transforming a transactional banking business into a relationship-driven, client-centric wealth management business,» commented Adam Chen, CEO and head of banking, HSBC Taiwan.
