Deutsche Bank PB Names New North Asia IM Head

A former HSBC FX expert has joined Deutsche Bank’s private wealth unit as its investment management head for North Asia, finews.asia has learned.

Deutsche Bank Private Bank has appointed Cora Chiu as head of investment management, North Asia, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia, effective December 16 and subject to regulatory approvals. She is responsible for leading investment sales activity for North Asia, while holding local supervisory responsibility over FX advisory and wealth planning resources. Based in Hong Kong, she reports functionally to Gian-Maria Piccolo and locally to Fred Fong.

Chiu has nearly 20 years of experience across FX and commodity advisory, multi-asset trading and product strategy. She joins from HSBC where she is currently head FX & commodities, North Asia. Previously, she also worked at Citi, driving regional FX strategy for ultra-high net worth individuals and family offices, and UBS for its wealth management and FICC (fixed income, currencies and commodities) businesses.

Chiu succeeds Cedric Ko, who has decided to seek new opportunities outside of the bank.

When contacted, a spokesperson for the bank confirmed the contents of the memo.
