Natixis CIB Expands Global Markets Business in APAC

The investment banking arm of Paris-based Natixis has made a handful of appointments for its global markets business in Asia Pacific, including its China franchise.

Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) has expanded its APAC global markets business with more than half a dozen new appointments, according to a statement.

Vishal Shah has been appointed as head of emerging markets (EM) linear interest rates/foreign exchange (FX) trading, Asia Pacific, in addition to his position as global head of EM FX linear & rates trading. In the newly created role, he is responsible for developing the bank’s macro trading strategy for EM, FX linear & rates in the region. He has 19 years of experience in trading, 14 of which have been based in Natixis CIB’s New York office, leading EM, FX and Latin America trading.

Based in Hong Kong, he reports to Viet-Linh Ha Thuc, head of global markets, APAC as well as co-heads of macro markets Pascal Amiel and Valery Gombert.

Other Macro Appointments

The bank has also appointed Michael Rothlin as head of APAC G10 linear rates & FX trading. He has over 20 years of trading experience, including nine years at HSBC, leading G10 FX cash trading and G10 STIR trading for APAC. Based in Hong Kong, he reports to Ha Thuc, Colin Clavieras, head of STIR & cross currency swaps trading and Yvon Pilchen, head of swaps & inflation derivatives trading.

Theresa Ang has been named executive director, macro sales, rates & FX, spearheading the development of macro flows with financial institutions in Southeast Asia. Based in Singapore, she reports to Ashish Jain, head of global market sales, South East Asia & Australia and Olivier Abitbol, head of macro flow sales, APAC. Ang has 34 years of experience in fixed income, currencies and commodities in Singapore, Hong Kong, and London, including JPMorgan Chase and SEB Bank.

China Franchise

Natixis CIB is also increasing market activities in China with the appointment of Liyuan Xiao to the newly created role of head of global markets, China. He has over 16 years of experience, most recently leading RMB FX and rates teams at Deutsche Bank. Based in Shanghai, he reports to Hong Liu, senior country manager, China, and Shah.

Further strengthening the bank’s rates, FX linear & EM trading team is Chenhao Li who becomes vice president. He has seven years of experience, most recently leading CITIC CLSA’s FICC proprietary trading desk. Based in Hong Kong, he also reports to Shah.

Terry Zhang has been named as head of China financial institutions sales, to support the expansion of Natixis CIB’s Chinese client portfolio in key sectors. He has 19 years of experience, including six years at HSBC as head of solutions sales for Greater China, markets & securities services. Based in Hong Kong, he reports to Kirk Liu, head of Greater China sales.

Equity Derivatives

The bank has also bolstered its equity derivatives business with the appointment of Emile Tran as executive director, equity financial engineering, APAC, reporting to Arnaud Davoust, head of equity derivatives sales & structuring, APAC. Tran has over 12 years of experience in equity derivative structuring and QIS development for Barclays and Société Générale.
