Schroders Reshuffles Client Group Team

British asset manager Schroders has announced several changes to its client group unit, including a global and Asia appointment.

Schroders has appointed Matt Oomen as global head of client group, according to a statement, reporting to group CEO Richard Oldfield.

30-year veteran Oomen, who will also become part of the group executive committee, joins from BNY Investments where he was most recently global head of distribution, responsible for product strategy, marketing and sales across 30 countries. Previously, he worked at Mellon Global Investment prior to the BNY and Mellon merger as well as insurer Zurich.

Oomen succeeds Karine Szenberg who becomes executive vice chair. She remains on the group executive committee and will focus on the acceleration of the firm's strategy by working closely with its network of joint ventures and associates and building new partnerships to maintain relevance for clients.

Asia Appointments

In addition, Schroders has named Gopi Mirchandani as head of client group, Asia, succeeding Chris Durack who will become Asia chair until his departure on December 31. In the role, Mirchandani reports to Oomen.

Jason Yu has also been appointed country head for Hong Kong, subject to regulatory approval.
