The president of asset management at UBS is stepping down. The current president of asset management for the EMEA and Switzerland regions has been appointed as her successor.

Suni Harford has decided to relinquish her roles at UBS, the major bank announced in a statement on Wednesday. As of 1 March, Aleksandar Ivanovic will be the new president of asset management and member of the Group Executive Board.

Harford’s second area of responsibility – sustainability and impact – will also be reassigned. This will go to Beatriz Martin Jimenez in addition to her current tasks, also from the start of March. Jimenez is head non-core and legacy, president EMEA and U.K. chief executive.

Banking Apprenticeship at UBS

Ivanovic (image below) started his career in 1992 with an apprenticeship at UBS and worked in all areas of the bank, the statement says. He also held managerial roles at Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley. Previously, he was head of client coverage and head of the EMEA and Switzerland regions in asset management at UBS. The bank said he will be playing a key role in developing and implementing UBS’ strategy in asset management and expanding cooperation with corporate and institutional clients.

Integration of Credit Suisse Asset Management

Harford joined UBS about six and a half years ago and was appointed president asset management in 2019. She previously worked at Citi for over 24 years. Most recently, she was responsible for integrating Credit Suisse’s asset management activities. Since 2021, Harford has also played a leading role in coordinating UBS’s sustainability efforts across the Group and driving forward the transition to a decarbonized economy, including developing the UBS Climate Plan, the statement says.
