Nomura creates a new role in its international wealth management business and hires a former Citi banker to fill it.

Rudolf Hitsch is to join Nomura as the head of North Asia for its international wealth management business, according to an announcement sent to the media on Monday.

Hitsch, who will be based in Hong Kong, will be responsible for client relationship management teams covering North Asia and will report to Ravi Raju, the head of international wealth management.

Previous to that, he was the head of North Asia at Citi Private Bank, where he built its offshore mainland China and Taiwan private banking business and oversaw the growth of the Hong Kong business. He also spent 12 years at Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management in Hong Kong.

Nomura has hired around 50 private bankers in its international wealth management business in the last two and a half years to focus on what considers its core markets of Greater China, South, and Southeast Asia –as well as the Middle East.
