A top investment banker from Nomura’s Singapore office will move to London to lead global markets.

Rig Karkhanis, who serves as deputy head of global markets, Asia ex-Japan head of global markets as well as global head of FX and emerging markets at Nomura will move to the Japanese lender's London office, according to an announcement.

Karkhanis will take on the new role as head of global markets, effective April 1, succeeding Yutaka Nakajima, who has been promoted to representative executive officer and deputy president.

Karkhanis joined Nomura in September 2010 and took on various leadership roles before being named senior managing director in April 2017. Previously, he also worked at Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank in various FX and rates roles.

Asia Appointments

Nomura is also promoting Toshiyasu Iiyama as deputy president and chief of staff. Prior to this, he oversaw the bank's China business as chair of the China committee for several years.

Iiyama’s previous role will be replaced by Kenji Teshima, in addition to his current role as APAC CEO of Nomura, based in Singapore and Hong Kong.
