Credit Suisse has named a replacement for its longstanding head of economics for Japan.

Takashi Shiono has been appointed by Credit Suisse as head of economics, Japan, based in Tokyo to succeed Hiromichi Shirakawa, who has retired.

Shirakawa, also previously the vice chair of Credit Suisse Securities (Japan) Ltd., left the Swiss bank after first joining in 2006. He started his career at the Bank of Japan where he spent 16 years, mainly heading research and analysis of money and credit markets. 

A spokesperson for Credit Suisse confirmed the new appointment and departure.

Shiono is a senior economist who first joined Credit Suisse in 2009.

«We have many talented people and capable leaders, who have grown with Credit Suisse over the years and are ready to take on greater responsibilities and new challenges,» said Credit Suisse Japan CEO Makoto Kuwahara.
