UBS Global Wealth Management has hired a new private market specialist formerly from Bank of China Group, finews.asia has learned.

Monica Liu rejoins UBS Global Wealth Management as a senior private market sales, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia, reporting to Paula Ip, head of investment funds & private markets, advisory & sales, Greater China.

Liu has over 15 years of private equity fund experience, most recently with Bank of China Group’s principal investment arm, where she was responsible for private equity investments at the group level. Previously, she also worked at a Swiss-based private equity house, JPMorgan Chase Bank and UBS Asset Management. 

Liu’s hire follows the recent exit of APAC head of private markets Pak-Seng Lai who joined alternatives asset manager Blue Owl Capital as its head of private wealth distribution in the region.

A spokesperson for the bank confirmed the new hire.
