Credit Suisse’s investment banking chairman – and ex-asset management chief – Eric Varvel is reportedly in talks to leave the Swiss lender after joining more than three decades ago.

Eric Varvel is in talks to leave Credit Suisse, according to a «Financial Times» report citing unnamed sources.

Part of the reason for the potential exit is a disagreement with newly appointed chairman António Horta-Osório over his «style and strategy», the report added.

Ex-AM Chief

Varvel joined Credit Suisse more than 30 years ago and has since held various key roles at the bank. He is currently the chairman of investment banking, chairman of Qatar and chief executive of the U.S. unit.

Previously, he was also the global head of asset management where he was a proponent of the Greensill supply chain funds which were launched in 2017 a year after his appointment. Two weeks after the Greensill collapse in March, Varvel was removed as asset management head in a leadership reshuffle while retaining his other roles.
